Everyone’s doing AI. How many are keeping their power and agency while they do it?

AI is taking over more of what you do. From writing emails to building software. Where do you fit in?

If you’re looking for ways to hone and preserve your knowledge, judgement, skills and power, Doing AI Efficiently is for you.

The Doing AI Efficiently OS

This newsletter is a core part of the Doing AI Efficiently Operating System. The system closes the gap between AI’s rapidly expanding capabilities and your skills and knowledge. It helps support the optimal configuration: Humans + AI, where human judgement is combined with AI to achieve optimal outcomes. Learn more about the operating system and how it can help you here.

The OS is built on five operational layers:

  • Grasp: Understand how AI actually works, from tokens to model architecture

  • Discern: Evaluate whether output is correct, complete and accurate

  • Ward: Recognize and protect yourself from AI risks

  • Execute: Engage in the micro-actions that separate efficient AI users from the rest

  • Honor: Prepare yourself to accept responsibility for AI-generated outputs

The full Doing AI Efficiently OS will include software, tools and courses. This newsletter is at the center of the OS.

About the Doing AI Efficiently OS creator

I’m Fard Johnmar. I’ve been working in technology innovation for more than 20 years and describe myself as a futurist. I think hard about how emerging technologies will shape how we work, live and play. I’m also someone who has tended to live in the future, by being an early adopter of various technologies when they were still new.

I started coding back in junior high school. My first project was a simple game I programmed in BASIC. After college I was a Webmaster, creating and maintaining Web pages. Later, I used animation, alternate reality games and early chatbots (like Jaberwocky) to educate and communicate. When blogging was new, I started a popular healthcare blog. And, over the years, I’ve worked with thousands of people and organizations globally to help them understand and deploy technologies like mobile, virtual reality, natural language processing, machine learning, and other tools to improve health and well-being.

Today, I’m focused on helping to make autonomous systems in AI more visible, efficient and safe. I created the Doing AI Efficiently OS, which includes a research-backed AI productivity system, called the LLM Whisperer Method (Execute), and AgentGuard360 (Ward), an upcoming software platform that will deliver financial, operational and security optimization to users.
